The ULC-1000AN MSAN access network system incorporates a V5 main link interface to facilitate connection of residential and SOHO users of PSTN and ISDN services to local exchanges with a V5 interface.

The V5.2 (which is an extension of the V5.1 standard) allows over-subscription of services based on dynamic on-demand assignment of timeslots for optimal utilization of available bandwidth on the physical link. The ULC-1000AN access network system implements V5.2 with up to sixteen physical E1 lines per V5.2 interface.

The V5P module handles the V5.2 protocol signal including the control protocol, PSTN protocol, BCC protocol, link control protocol and protection protocol.
